Loops
What does KOERS cost?
Nothing. KOERS is free, without ads and without an account.
Which iPhones does it run on?
iPhones with iOS 26 or later.
Where does it work?
Junction loops work in the Netherlands and Belgium, and just across the border. A free loop works wherever Apple Maps has cycling directions; in the Netherlands and Belgium our own route planner plans it, with your wishes for the roads.
Can I pick the junctions myself?
Yes. Choose Junctions, tap the hand next to Plan loop and tap the junctions on the map in the order you want to ride them. The switch at the bottom takes you back to the first junction.
I don't see any junctions on the map
Choose Junctions at the top of the panel and zoom in a bit further. The button at the top right shows or hides the junctions. If you still see nothing, there's no known junction network in that area.
Can I avoid cobbles, busy town centres or climbs?
Yes, for free loops and the way to the first junction. Go to Settings → Roads. Choose your bike (touring or road bike) and switch on what you want: avoid cobbles, cycle paths where possible, avoid town centres, avoid climbs or few turns.
The loop isn't exactly as long as I chose
KOERS looks for a loop as close to your distance or time as possible. On real roads and junctions that usually works to within a few kilometres. Tap Another loop for a different variant.
Does navigation use a lot of battery?
While navigating KOERS uses GPS, also with the screen off; that's why you see a blue location indicator. Stop navigating and KOERS stops following your location too.
Bike computer
How do I get a loop onto my bike computer?
Tap Export on a loop and choose what you ride with. KOERS shows the best way: straight to your bike computer's account, via your bike computer's app, or as a GPX or FIT file. You can change your choice in the export screen or in Settings.
Which bike computers work with KOERS?
Any bike computer that reads GPX or FIT routes. For more and more brands you can connect your account, so loops and workouts get there with one tap and your rides come back for your score.
How do I disconnect my bike computer?
Go to Settings and tap Disconnect at your bike computer. KOERS also revokes its access to your account.
Training and score
How does a workout on my loop work?
Pick a workout in the panel and how long you want to ride. KOERS makes a loop that's long enough and puts the hard blocks on quiet, straight stretches, just after a turn. Your bike computer follows the blocks; if it can't receive workouts, you share a FIT workout. On an Apple Watch you start the workout right away.
What does Autokoers do?
It picks your workout every day. Fresh, with nothing hard for a few days? Then sweetspot, threshold or VO2max: the kind of block you haven't done the longest. After a hard day you ride easy, and when you're tired it's a recovery ride. Every workout fits your level: nail it and the next one is a notch harder; too hard and it steps back. You can always pick another workout yourself.
What is FTP, and how do I set it?
FTP is the power you can hold for about an hour; your threshold heart rate is the heart rate that goes with it. They turn the zones into watts and heart rate. Set them in Settings → FTP and threshold, fetch your FTP from your bike computer's account, or ride the FTP test: your FTP is 95% of your average power over 20 minutes.
How does the score work?
For every block KOERS compares your average power with the target; without a power meter, your heart rate. Inside the target is 100 points; 10% off costs 30 points. The hard blocks count double, warm-up and cool-down half.
Does KOERS adjust my zones itself?
Yes, when a ride gives reason to: after an FTP test, after 20 minutes harder than your FTP suggests, or when your blocks ended well above or below target while your heart rate confirms it. Without a power meter KOERS goes by your highest heart rate over 20 minutes and how the ride felt. Every ride shows what was checked, what changed and what it would take to change it. Undo takes one tap; switch it off in Settings → Adjust zones automatically.
Do I need a power meter?
No. Without a power meter you ride the workout by heart rate. KOERS scores your blocks on heart rate and tunes your threshold from your heart rate and how the ride felt. The FTP test works with just a heart rate monitor too.
Your data
Where are my loops and rides kept?
Only on your own iPhone, under My loops. There's no account and no sync. Delete the app and they're gone. More in the privacy policy.
